Viva La Joteria is proud to announce their first annual Viva la Joteria (VJ) Conference!
In the light of many recent events that have affected the Queer communities, especially our Black and brown Tansgender siblings, we are taking a stand. We are creating a space specifically for QUEER/TRANS PEOPLE OF COLOR, to provide a space for healing, empowerment, and education. This event will center around the lives and stories of the most marginalized and erased within our communities (Transgender, disabled, sex workers, survivors, undocumented, immigrants, Black and Indigenous folks).
******PRIORITY DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28TH, PLEASE REGISTER ASAP********
The conference will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 28th & 29th and the Ethnic Cultural Center and Theater. The conference will include various educational and intersectional workshops, a resource/health fair, clothe drive, a fashion show, a healing circle/vigil, an open mic and a drag show. Participants are HIGHLY encouraged to sign up and parcipate in all these different sections of the event.
This event is open to everyone who identifies within the LGBTQIA+ community AND is a person of color. To make this space accesible to everyone, we are making this event FREE OF CHARGE. We will provide a light breakfast, lunch and dinner for both days. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide transportation or housing fees.
Both the ECC and ECT are wheelchair accessible and have gender neutral restrooms on all levels.
